Our new unit! Yay! We travelled to the MPR and went to a classroom to answer a specific question with a group. The groups were a mix of all the grade 4 classes. The 3 questions were: Why do we get tired when we run up the stairs?, What is a funny bone? and Why do we look like our parents? Then, we used the inquiry cycle to answer them.
By Ponnya & Mark G4.1's last work in our 2nd unit was a product inquiry. All the boys chose to learn about fair trade hot chocolate and two girls chose tea along with another two who chose ice cream. 2 chose chocolate while the rest chose coffee. Later our work was done we got to take the products we learned about home.
By Mark & Ponnya This wonderful day G4.1 and its other G4 friends came together and rode the bus to Ben & Jerry's.
We tried a cup of ice cream and they tasted amazing most of us almost favorite and the teachers also tried it too. It was also interesting learning about the fair trade products Ben & Jerry's actually use. It was a fascinating trip we will never forget. By Ponnya In this lesson G4.1 had a lesson on Key concepts. Key concepts are the different ways you actually think about a certain thing or a image. The Key concepts G4.1 is learning about is responsibility, (what is our responsibility) causation (what is the cause for this to happen) and finally change (how has this changed overtime.)
By Ponnya For this activity all the grade 4s came together to practice for the December winter play. We were doing a gamelan piece and a shadow theatre just like the indonesians.
By, Ponnya 4.1's raging debate took place in the classroom. We thought of some argument's and then argued about if animals should be tested. There were 5 people including the teacher were in the PRO group. In the ANTI group there were 7 students.
On the day before Diwali G4.1 learned about the story behind Diwali. The class tried Indian murukku and got candy after the lesson. The kids favorite and most messy bit was making the rangoli pattern.
By, Ponnya and Sofia This morning G4.1 went to visit 3.1 and for 4.1's math they measured the kids in G3.1. Used the data for G4.1's math.
By, Ponnya and Sofia WOW. What an amazing day. All of G4 had a blast. There was so many activities and at the end that international buffet had made the kids drool.
